CORE EXPORTS
HASH AVACADO
We export fresh hass avocados from Kenya. Hass avocado is easily identified by its oval shape,
the bumpy pebbled texture of its skin and the purple to green-black colour which means it’s ripe
and ready for consumption. Green fruit takes four to five days to ripen at room temperature. The
ripening process can be fastened by placing your hass avocado in a paper bag with an apple for
two to three days at room temperature
FUERTE
AVOCADOS
Often recognized as the archetypal avocado, green in color, pear-like in shape, and ranging from six to twelve ounces in size are less oily that other avocados, but the flavor is very rich and nutty. Fuerte avocados were once the top variety.
BENEFITS OF AVACADOS
Helps maintain good eyesight
If you want to maintain good eyesight, eat avocados! Thanks to a carotenoid called lutein,
avocado absorbs ultraviolet rays from the sun, preventing these from damaging the retina.
The acids on the pulp also protect the eyes from degeneration and cataracts.
The avocado fruit contains the benefits of Vitamin E
Avocados are a great source of vitamin E. When you consume this vitamin regularly, the
body is fully equipped to fight disease. In addition, Vitamin E also revitalizes the skin making it soft and supple thanks to its antioxidant properties.
Avocados contribute to good heart health
A portion of this delicious fruit contains a high percentage of folic acid (23%). Folic acid is a
vitamin found in green leafy vegetables and its role is to restore overall health.
Helps lower cholesterol
Avocados are high in beta-sitosterol, a compound that has been shown to keep cholesterol levels low. Avocados contain monounsaturated fat (healthy fat), which reduces LDL Cholestrol cholesterol which is harmful to the body.
Enhances absorption of nutrients
Eating avocados ensures that your body is absorbing certain nutrients. Carotenoids in other fruits and vegetables are absorbed more efficiently when you eat avocados. In some studies, researchers found that a person that consumes avocados, the absorption of carotenoids is 5 times more effective than someone that does not eat avocados.
It adds a unique and special flavor to your salads Some people may not like this fruit, but those that do will know that avocados give
salads and other dishes – and even some green drinks – a special flavor
Repairs damaged hair
This is perhaps one of the most popular benefits of the avocado. It repairs dull, dry hair, due to the large number of vitamins and fat you consume from eating it.
GARLIC
It is closely related to onions, shallots and leeks. Each segment of a garlic bulb is called a clove. There are about 10–20 cloves in a single bulb, give or take. Garlic grows in many parts of the world and is a popular ingredient in cooking due to its strong smell and delicious taste. Garlic is a plant in the onion family that’s grown for its distinctive taste and health benefits. It contains sulfur compounds, which are believed to bring some of the health benefits.
TYPES OF GARLICS
HARD NECK GARLIC
Is a less common garlic type. It features tan or purple markings. Varieties of hard neck garlic usually produce larger and fewer cloves on each head. They feature a fairly strong taste and sweet, pungent odor. Hardneck garlic also generally has thinner, skin that is easy to remove. Hardneck garlic does not usually store as well for long periods of time as softneck varieties. Some varieties of hardneck garlic include German Extra Hearty and Roja.
SOFT NECK GARLIC
Soft neck Garlic is probably the foremost common variety of garlic. It is the range found most frequently within the food market. Soft neck garlic usually features a white, paper-like skin. The head is comprised of several layers of garlic cloves surrounding the core. This is probably the simplest form of garlic to grow in an exceeding yard vegetable patch. Varieties of soft neck garlic feature a reasonably robust taste and sweet, pungent odour. Most garlic heads that have been braided together are soft neck varieties. Some types of soft neck garlic include California Early, California Late, and Creole.
ELEPHANT GARLIC
Is a variety commonly found in grocery stores. It features a very large head that is comprised of very large cloves. In fact, some cloves of elephant garlic can reach about the same size as a whole head of soft neck or hard neck varieties. Some people assume that because of it’s large size, elephant garlic has a much more intense flavor than standard garlic varieties. These people would be WRONG! Elephant garlic is known for it’s very subtle flavor and mild odor. In fact, some garlic purists equate the taste of elephant garlic more with leeks or shallots than with other types of garlic.
